Staff Profile

All of our team members are carefully selected to be able to work to a high standard across the spectrum of learning disability and developmental impairment.

Our primary focus is on selecting people with the characteristics to work well with our client group and providing a training pathway to ensure that every person is trained or is undergoing training matched to their clients needs.

A list of current staff and their qualifications is available on request. The staff allocated to support you will be chosen in order to match their skills with your needs, and also to minimize travelling distances in order to support good time attendance.

In addition, to the direct support staff the Registered Manager works 40 hours per week managing locations. Staffing levels may be changed at the discretion of the Registered Manager if there are particular needs.

How We Work
Care staff work on a rota system which ensures that the service is staffed by the appropriate number and skill mix, including weekends and public holidays.

New employees are inducted to National Training Organisation standards within 12 weeks of employment. We manage and train our Support Workers to achieve PBS certificate level (equivalent to QCF level 3). All other employees receive the training appropriate to their work, for example Autistic specific training for staff working with these individuals.

All employees receive annual training in health and safety matters such as moving and handling, fire awareness and procedures, adult protection issues, and a range of other matters.

In addition the direct care teams are supported by members of the central support team who are skilled practitioners in learning disability, Person Centred Planning, Positive Behaviour Support and other complimentary areas. Access to internal Behavioural specialist, and a close working relationship with external clinical support.

People We Support

Engage Support is a bespoke provider of support to individuals with a developmental impairment.

This includes individuals across the spectrum of Autism. Our aim is to engage successfully with each person we support in a way that works for them. That means our support plans are designed around each person’s needs and our support approach adjusted for each person.
The staff team will support any intractable behaviours which may occur, through Positive Behaviour Support Plans, to communicate their needs using more appropriate means and will work with the Supported People in reducing the need and motivation for intractable situations.

Engage Support uses the Crisis Prevention Institute’s (CPI) Safety Interventions training programme, which is recognised and accredited by the British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD). The Crisis Prevention Institute’s training programme has been used since 1980 by 5 million professionals worldwide and ensures the Care, Welfare, Safety and Security of all those involved in a crisis situation.

To promote and develop independence; Engage will support in a person centred way by supporting our Supported People to make choices and to be as independent as possible within their home (e.g. cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, washing clothes etc.) and to access all of the outdoor activities that Engage provides, and to develop their independence safely in the wider community, whilst remaining safe.
